The first day of the round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in Washington yesterday ended without any progress and in a sense there was even a setback, according to Axios citing sources

One of the sources said that at certain points the talks were "ugly." Israel confirms that there were disagreements but claims that the atmosphere was "pleasant."  Representatives of the IDF and the Lebanese army presented contradictory and rigid positions regarding the scope of the Israeli withdrawal and the areas where the withdrawal will begin.  Ravid's understanding that the first day of the negotiations was so unproductive that the American mediators decided to start over today in the hope of softening the parties' positions.
