Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister says understanding with Oman does not mean opening the Strait of Hormuz, IRNA reports

With the implementation of the new understanding, other temporary routes in the Strait of Hormuz will be closed. A significant part of the routes of entry and exit of ships will pass through Iranian territorial waters. In contrast to this understanding, the northern route that was created near Lark Island and the southern route that is in Oman's internal waters will be closed, because these were completely temporary routes. If this new understanding that is being formed between Iran and Oman (with those requirements met) enters the implementation phase, this new route will be implemented for the passage of ships. The understanding about the Strait of Hormuz must be made solely between Iran and Oman. We will not accept foreign interference in the Strait of Hormuz in any way. The meaning of this understanding is not opening the Strait. Opening the Strait of Hormuz and implementing this understanding that we are making with Oman has its own requirements. We are in a situation where the US has violated all its commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, has lifted the naval blockade, has restarted the war, while the situation in Lebanon has not stabilized and the conflicts have not ended completely. The new route in the Strait of Hormuz is temporary but could be valid for 2 to 4 months or more. To enter the second phase after the understanding with Oman, we need to make a new decision. We must assess whether the US is truly ready to return to its commitments or not. The US returning to its commitments in the Islamabad MOU is a condition, but it is not enough for the reopening of Hormuz. We have received messages from the US indicating readiness to return to commitments. No talks with US have been held in recent days. The decision on entering the second stage has not yet been made and is under review.
