Any measures regulating energy prices should be targeted and avoid increasing gas demand. Demand reduction measures include preventing outdoor heating and limiting temperatures in public buildings. EU gas storage is exceptionally low; situation is challenging but there is no immediate supply risk. EU is better prepared than in winter 2021, owing to new LNG capacity, renewables and lower gas demand. EU is facing an energy price crisis linked to a supply crisis.
